To get the most out of your Statistics 1 app follow these simple guidelines:
- Go through the Lessons before you go to class. Then, in class, you'll understand your professor' lecture better than your classmates because your prior knowledge from the app will be activated.
- Use app quick reference tools (Glossary, Formulas, Symbols, Decision Trees, etc.) during class. (Word of advice: Show your teacher the app so they don't think your texting, twittering, etc.
- After class use the Standard Deviation Sim and Calculator to learn more about how different values affect the variance, standard deviation, and skew of the bell curve.
- Test your understanding by taking the Quizzes. If you miss a question, tap the Review to get taken directly to the page in the Lesson that covers the topic. Review the topic and try that question again.
- Use the graphic organizers (Tables, Decision Trees) to build a mental model of how all the tests, risks, and decisions relate.
- Study for short time periods many times during the week. Let your curiosity motivate you by thinking of various ways you can apply stats to your own behavior and performance.
